Daniel grew up in upstate New York and holds a degree in Piano Performance from Syracuse University where he graduated magna cum laude
and was awarded the George Mulfinger Prize for Piano and the Evalina Vernon Honsinger Award for Music History. Later, as a teaching
assistant, he completed graduate studies in Piano Performance at the
University of Massachusetts. He is a member of the Oregon Music
Teachers Association (OMTA), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
and Pi Kappa Lambda, an honor society for musicians in higher education.
Before
relocating to Oregon, Daniel worked internationally where he taught piano and courses in
music theory and history at both the college and secondary school
levels and was a sought after performer and music clinician. Daniel currently maintains an active piano studio in Beaverton
where he continues his over 20 years of teaching and also enjoys
performing in the greater Portland area. Though his piano studio has
literally been around the world, music’s central message remains
unchanged regardless of location: Music has the remarkable ability to
both guide one on a path of self-discovery as it builds strong personal
values and develops an individual’s sense of self while it also reveals
the constancy of humankind’s greatest aspirations and concerns through
changing times.
